Here is some sharing about the adventures of Julie & Scott's new kitchen. When they first bought the house, they had a new tile floor put in and new countertops. Alas, the handyman wasn't too handy, and so they decided to start from scratch and redo the kitchen. This involved tearing up many layers of floor covering, removing the cupboards, tearing out the lath and plaster walls and redoing them with new insulation. It gets pretty cold in Iowa. Because the kitchen is small, they cut a hole in the wall to recess their fridge into the mud room, making it possible to have a larger fridge without it taking up the whole kitchen. In the pictures you can see the "before" and the "during". They still have a ways to go, but you can see the nice paint job on the walls, the beautiful wood flooring, the subway tiles on the one wall, and their new cabinets, sink and counter top. More cabinets are due and kick boards, etc., but you get the idea.
