REMEMBER WHEN

Just to see if I could remember what Kristin taught me, I thought I'd try to make a video. Here's Katie, Daren and a friend on their trip to NYC.

IT'S OFFICIAL - KATIE IS ENGAGED!

Katie has said yes, to the love of her life! Friday evening in a romantic setting in a nearby canyon, he proposed and they are both "over the moon". Perhaps an October wedding. October will be a very busy month with Derek's wedding, Quinton's 60th, several other birthdays and Katie's wedding. Let me introduce you to Katie's sweetheart, Daren Lifferth.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBERT SANDERS

Robert is into his 30s now with the ripe age of 31.  A lot of things accomplished, but best of all, a wife and four beautiful children.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AIMEE (AGAIN)

For Aimee's birthday this year, Kristin took all the kids to Home Depot and bought plants, flowers and new soil and while Aimee was at work they went over to her house and pulled old plants out, weeded and planted new plants and flowers. It was a great experience for the kids and a wonderful surprise for Aimee when she got home from work.

(Kristin put this slide show together and let me put it on the blog. She showed me how to do a post like this, and hopefully I'll be able to do it again another time. Enjoy!)

D-A-D

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
Then God combined theses qualities,
There was nothing more to add,
His masterpiece was now complete,
He lovingly called it, Dad.

ANOTHER FILM FESTIVAL

In addition to working in Texas all week, Dennis & Ken came home last Friday night, worked all day Saturday on various projects including preparing for a film festival in Ogden, Utah for the showing of Chloe and the Big Fish.  It was a successful showing and here's a picture of them on stage afterwards answering questions.

A TRIP TO MOAB, UTAH

Kenneth took the Young Men from his ward on a outing to Moab, Utah last weekend.  Here are some pictures he sent that included Ken and his sons.  GREAT PICTURES!

REUNION TIME IS GETTING CLOSER! HOORAY!

Here's an update on the reunion.  Ken and Suzanne have worked on the food menus and I'm sure it will be great.
Ken is making arrangements for a photographer and our group picture will probably be Sunday, likely in the late afternoon.

(A schedule of events will be forth coming.  Just remember that Dennis and Ken are in Texas A LOT and their time is heavily scheduled).

The T-Shirts have been designed (it looks great - thanks Kristin) and ordered and the color this year is black.  We decided that for the group picture, khaki pants would look especially nice.  Hope that works for everyone.

Enjoy these pictures of our 2001 reunion in Lake Tahoe.

SLOW NEWS DAY

I'm waiting for some news from certain people, and since I don't have it yet, I'll fill in with this:

At my ward's last Relief Society evening meeting, I along with two other ladies were asked to speak about "what I wish I had known when I was younger". We were asked because we are "seasoned", (that means old!) Anyway, it was a fun evening, and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

REUNION UPDATE

We are one week closer to the reunion.  In less than a month we'll all be together.  I'm so excited.

Have you sent your T-Shirt size information to Kristin?  Please do so soon.  (For those who may not recall, Erik and Kristin have offered to design and pick up the tab for the reunion T-Shirts).

Ken sent me this update to add to the information.

I'm putting together a list of things to tell everyone who is coming to the reunion. This is one to be added.

On 6/5/2011 (Tuesday) we'll be visiting Timpanogos Cave. We have two times (20 people per time) to arrive that are 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. Its about 40 minutes from our house so we'll need to leave by 8:45 and 9:00 a.m. That morning. Its a fun hike (a bit of a climb, but do able if taken slow) and the cave is interesting. Here is what we need to bring and they have one request.

Need plenty of water for the hike.

Sweatshirt or jacket for cave.

Cameras and flashlights okay

Comfortable shoes

Don't wear same footwear or whatnot if you've been to a cave in the past five years as there is some cave disease that is killing bats and they'd like to avoid that in Utah.

Here's some reminders of reunions past.

Here's some pictures of Sashy.  Congratulations on graduating.
And in her own words . . .
Ladies and gentleman! Boys and girls! I, Alexandra, graduated with honors, an overall GPA of 3.9, and three letters, from high school on May 26, 2011. YAHOOOOOOOOO!!!! And what do I have to show for it? This little baby:

Boo-yah. I am overjoyed just thinking about it. It was an intersting ride, but a wonderful one at that. I'd like to thank all my wonderful teachers I've ever had, as well as my fellow peers who I have been honored to meet.

Senior Prom
(Is this a gorgeous group or what.  I personally think the girl in gold is the most beautiful!)

AN UPDATE ON DANIELLE

Have you been wondering what Danielle is up to these days?

Danielle teaches at the Missionary Training Center (MTC) with senior missionaries, as they spend a couple of weeks there preparing for their mission experience.  There are several types of missions that seniors can be called on to serve.

There is a lady in our ward who is going on a service mission in Dallas, Texas.  She will be gone for 18 months (at her own expense) to work in an office which helps unempoloyeed people learn how to write resumes, interview for jobs, and then help them match up with availiable positions.

We received an e-mail from Danielle, telling us she met Sister Sedgewick (the lady from our ward) and that she was in the group that Danielle would be working with.  Small world, isn't it?

Then I asked Danielle what is going on in her life right now and this is what she wrote.

My life is a little bit in limbo right now, but I'm loving it! Right now I'm working at the Missionary Training Center with the senior couples going on missions. I was also substitute teaching in the school district before school finished. About a month ago, I took the GRE, the test required to get into grad school and applied for grad school at BYU. If they accept me I'll be studying special education. I should hopefully hear in the next week or two whether I've been accepted. If I've been accepted I'll start later this summer. Other than that, I've just been spending as much time as I can with the family!
Thanks for the update, Danielle.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AIMEE

It's a memorable one for Aimee.  She and Jack Benny.  He thought 39 was the best age ever.  For those of you who don't know who Jack Benny is, too bad!

Aimee has just started a new job.  She works as the Administrative Support to a woman who has a high ranking leadership job in the penal system working with 40 -50 probation officers.   Aimee works in Vista and it is about a 45 minute drive to work.  Working for the government means she has great benefits and lots of opportunities for advancement.  She really enjoys her boss and says that as her assistant, she has many different things that she does so it is always interesting work.  Aimee is very excited about her new job and thinks it is a great next step in her life.  Happy Birthday, Aimee.
