NEW HAIR STYLE

After many, many months of no haircuts, Ken went for it in a big way.
 Washed and ready to cut.

Mayra has moved back home with the Agles and is plying her trade.

 Yeah, let's make this fun.

 Voila!

Then it was down to LA's China town where he did a banking job.  I wonder if they recognized him?

Tomorrow Dennis & Ken are off to London to visit the Queen!

JULIE'S LATEST CREATION

In honor of President's Day, here's something spectacular from Julie. Here's what she wrote:

Ruth bought me a dress form at an auction this past summer. I started to do something with it then but didn't like what I was doing.

A couple if weeks ago I took her back out and started over. It is a combination of a couple of ideas from Pinterest.

What a lot of work. I think it is amazing! Thanks Julie.

THE HAITI SHOES & BOOK PROJECT

Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, it's off to Haiti we go. . . .
(Be sure and read Dennis' blog about I'm going where. . .
Just click on the link to the right of this page).

Ken and Dennis will catch the red-eye Thursday night for Haiti loaded down with underwear, school supplies, shoes and books that Suzanne has been working on with English translations.

What kid doesn't love getting new shoes!
So colorful.

 Brannigan doing his bit.

Guarding them.

 And there's videos.

 Lot's of videos.
(I think Nana Padgett sent down a video player.)

There are several copies of each book.

Here's the Creole translation from Jonathan.
Creole has French roots and Suzanne's study of French in school has helped her with the project.

 Thrift shopping.

Suzanne does the translation strips making sure they will fit in the right place. If so, she makes all the strips for that page for all the books.

Only Suzanne with her perfect, easy to read hand writing could tackle this job. The translation is taped over the English. They can "flip" the translation up and read the English underneath.

Hours and hours of work, but Suzanne's efficient assembly line work makes the task more doable.

The strips will be laminated for durability.

She lays several strips down on the laminate sheet.

Uses only as much as needed.

Places it in the protective cover sheet.

 Runs it through the machine.

Voila!
She will cut them apart and add the tape to make them "flip"!

The "Frog and Toad Are Friends" is a much bigger project that will require a lot of work.

And there you have it.
