HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Are you ready for the Trick or Treaters?
Hope it is a fun night.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I had a wonderful day and will enjoy to the fullest my last year in my 70s!

Here's a few pictures to enjoy.
Ruth's birthday cake made for her by her sister Julie.

 Guess who?

I went to visit Beki at her school. She was Cruella De Vil and the staff were her puppies.

Oh yes, the gloves and the glasses.

That cape could go around us 3 times!

Here's another view.

Some friends of January's. Cute idea.

Thought you would enjoy this picture of Dad in costume appearing in a Liken Movie. :-)

THE AMAZING PUMPKIN PATCH OF SPRINGVILLE

Jaker's did it up even bigger this year.

Here they are covering the silo with pumpkins.

Aren't these little pot-bellied donkeys the cutest?

There is a corn maze just behind these bales.

If you make it to the top, you are King of the Mountain!

Here are some ingenious slides. It takes a bit of effort to get up to the top.

The silo is now covered with pumpkins.

These 3 stalls are a petting zoo.

The wagon on the left is getting ready to take the kids on a ride around the fields.

I never drove by this place that there weren't lots and lots of kids. Very popular.

Yes, there are still some pumpkins left in the fields.

COSTUMES

Halloween is coming and so are the parties. Here's a few pictures that I have received so far.  (Keep sending them in.)

Bert & Mary
Dennis and Suzanne were invited to a party and aren't they the perfect couple. (they also won for best costume!)

January's ward had a party and she was in charge. She said she couldn't handle a costume and do all the other stuff, but she did wear this hat and told people to look for the lady in the pink hat if they had any questions.  Well, you sure couldn't miss her in that!

This is what one of the ladies wore.
Tippi Hendren from Hitchcock's, The Birds.
(PS I HATED that movie!)

 Another family.

He came as the Mad Hatter.

This was for the Comic Con Convention, but it could be used for a Halloween party!

THE PORCH SAGA CONTINUES . . . just one more posting until it's finished!

Here's the Saturday update. It's very close to being finished.
(Next week the gutters and a little touchup.)
I think Davis borrowed these pants from his Dad. Ken was wearing them last week. They are SPECIAL!

They share.

 Long shot.

 The stucco work is complete.
(Except for a few cleanups and touch ups)
The light fixture is waiting to be added.

The directional "star" N S E W will be painted blue to match the accent work on the house.
Here you can see the "ceiling" added. A big job adding all that siding.

Couldn't help but notice this hammer. It brought back a lot of memories.

Here's the four dudes mostly responsible for this gynormous project.

THE PORCH CONTINUES . . .

Another beautiful Saturday and the work continues on the porch.

The grouting is done on the lower half, with just some cleanup to do.

These pieces will separate the two halves.
A narrower stone will go on the top half.

This (sort of) compass of N S E & W will go in the front (shown on the next picture).

SOPHIE
Sophie created the longest hop scotch ever.

 Close to 200 steps.

 She demonstrates.

You don't JUST hop and skip, some steps require a kick or a twirl, or some similar type activity.

You have go go on each line of these circles.

When you get done, you can collapse.

COMIC CON

I don't know much about comics or comic con, but apparently it is quite a big deal. Aria and boy friend Nate attended the convention in SLC and chose two characters whose names I can't recall, but here are some fun pictures.

SALT LAKE COMIC CON.

 A cartoon of their characters.

Some friends who attended with them.

PROGRESS ON THE PORCH ADDITION

Ken is loving this weather we are having. It's very warm (he HATES the cold), which allows him to continue working on his latest project.
The right pillar has all the stones in place waiting for the grout.

The left pillar is what he is working on today.

A view from the other side.

Place it up there and see what needs to be cut off. It's like working a puzzle.

Make some marks with the heavy pencil.

Go over to the table, clamp the stone down, and then he gets to use his FAVORITE tool.

 Watch out for the dust!

Put a little "mud" on the stone.

 Fit it in place.
(Yes, this is a different stone but you get the idea.)

This will be their view from the porch. You can see what a beautiful day it was.
