LIFE IN SPRINGVILLE

I often pass this orthodontist's office on my way to somewhere and always enjoy looking at the statues. I think they are my favorite in Springville although I keep finding more and more in my travels. I wonder if anyone has ever counted how many there are in Springville?

From the look of his office, business must be good!

A VISIT TO IOWA

Ken had a  job in the "region" of Iowa. Not really very close, but he finished early and so decided to make the four hour trek to Iowa. Only enough time for an evening visit and then he had to leave early the next morning for a seven hour drive to Chicago to catch his plane home. Still I think they all thought it was great to be together for a mini reunion.

Scott and Julie prepared a delicious Mexican dinner.
Afterwards they had a rousing game of "May I".

A "selfie" of the four of them.

I'm guessing they made a trip to Rolfe's grocery store to pick up some food (?)

A panorama shot of the side of Julie's house, and their garage.

Probably a scenic shot Ken took on the way to Rolfe.

Ruth's house and she is covering all bases from September 11th to Halloween.

 The 3 Iowans.

Julie relaxing in her living room.

This flag was presented to the widow of Veteran Dennis E. Agle, Sr. It's very LARGE and Julie knew she had just the place to display it, so I gave it to her.

OUR OWN FLOWER GIRL - ARIA

Aria has always loved flowers and now is doing something about it. She took a course in floral design and would like to pursue that. She has done one wedding and has another lined up in November.

Her web site.

I was over at her house a couple of weeks ago and she was just finishing up the flowers for her first wedding. Her arrangements were beautiful and the bride was thrilled with her work.

 Just finishing up.

 Mom checking it out.

 The boutonnieres for the men.

Steven putting a damp cloth over the bride's bouquet.

Aria checking out the bride's wreath.

 Table bouquets packed for transport.

Carefully loading them in the car.

Clean up time.

BAPTISM DAY FOR JP

I like my birthday every one
Each brings a greater joy to me
But I can't wait
Until I'm eight
For then I'll be baptized you see.

 Steven performed the baptism.

Dad did the confirmation.

The family gathers for the traditional picture. (The 3 bears were props for Davis' talk).

 JP with his Primary leader.

After the baptism we were treated to a breakfast at a fun restaurant that has an amazing store with many fun things.

He is really a fierce warrior now.

Finally seated, we are checking out the menu.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS GATHERING

The Sunday after Davis got home, he spoke in church about his mission and families and gave a great message. Since church started at 1p, they held a brunch for and family and friends that would like to drop over before church.

It was fun to get to re-acquainted with Brent and Alyson's kids.

Brent telling it like it is.

Suzanne and Alyson greeting each other.

And Danielle giving a hug as well.

Of course it wouldn't be a gathering if the kids didn't get up on the pagoda roof.

The Rummlers and the newlyweds, Curtis and Sashy.

 The Agle women.

Aria with her beau.

AUTUMN IS IN THE AIR

Our days are still nice and warm, almost hot in the afternoon, but there is a chill in the air in the early morning.

You can see Jack Frost's work up in the mountains.

 Another area.

It won't be long before the leaves in town begin to turn.

This used to be a "Carnegie Library.

Carnegie library is a library built with money donated by Scottish-American businessman and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, who made much of his money in steel. A total of 2,509 Carnegie libraries were built between 1883 and 1929, including some belonging to public and university library systems. 1,689 were built in the United States660 in the United Kingdom and Ireland125 in Canada, and others in AustraliaSouth AfricaNew ZealandSerbia, the CaribbeanMauritiusMalaysia andFiji.

Most of the library buildings were unique.] The architecture was typically simple and formal, welcoming patrons to enter through a prominent doorway, nearly always accessed via a staircase. The entry staircase symbolized a person's elevation by learning. Similarly, outside virtually every library was a lamppost or lantern, meant as a symbol of enlightenment. He donated almost 90 percent of his fortune.

Now this library has been turned into a Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum.  I decided to visit it today and it was very enjoyable.

This is one of the statues just outside the museum.

Here's one of Mark Twain, just waiting for you to join him in reading a book!
