THATCHER UPDATE

Here's a chance to visit (vicariously) Silver City, New Mexico.  Rhiannon writes:

On Saturday, Quinton had a 7th grade football game in a picturesque little town in New Mexico named Silver City. Eddy had to coach in Safford so only Ashlee and I went to the game. It was a two hour drive that was very scenic. Quinton is number 72 and he is mainly on offense but does help out on defense as well. In the action photos he is lined up on the right side.

There are actually three Quintons (who knew Quinton would be such a popular name????)on his team as the photo shows all of them together.

After the game, our first stop was a thrift store as Quinton forgot to bring any jeans he only had pj pants (they left really early). At the thrift store, Ashlee was able to find big Quinton some military uniforms. Silver city is a town that is artsy and back in the 70s lots of hippies moved there, so Ashlee was delighted by the number of vegetarian friendly restaurants. We had lunch at a historic building then we did the cute downtown that has lots of quaint shops. We went to a candy/fudge shop and tried chocolate covered cinnamon bears (tasty) and jalapeño fudge (not tasty). Then we went to giant antique store/mall. Quinton found a glass chess set for $4, the vintage sweater vest for $5 (from a street vendor of vintage clothes).

I bought the Asian shelf sitters (be careful how you say it) for $10 and the elves all of them for $20. Ashlee bought some needlepoint pictures. We stopped at a couple of other shoppes and then had some gelato at a shop that had thirty different flavors.
(Actually Rhiannon, Grandma Price had those same figurines!)

Then we all headed back to Duncan to drop off Ashlee where we stopped for a visit with Carol and big Quinton. It was a fun day and we would like to go back and explore some more. They had a civil war era military fort and a nice museum we want to visit next time.

(Sounds like a very fun trip!)

  1. Good action shots, good shoppers! Wish I could've been there too! I might've given you a battle over those shelf, a, SITTERS...
