WHAT'S MORE FUN FOR A FAMILY THAN CAMPING?????
Over the long President's Day weekend, Erik & Kristin's family went camping. They have a wonderful camp ground just 15 mintures away from their home. Here's what Erik wrote:
"This past weekend we went to Lake Skinner which is about a 15 minute drive from our house in the Temecula Wine Country. Kristin and the kids packed and set up the campsite while I was at work (I am now going to find a reason to work during set up on future camping trips from now on as it was awesome to show up and have the campsite already set up). We all had a great time enjoying nature, the lake, riding bikes and chilling out by the campfire. On Saturday night we hung up a sheet and used our digital projector to create a camp drive-in which was a hit with several of the other kids in the surrounding campsites as we watched Transformers. We had a great time and we are looking forward to our next trip."

SANTA CLAUS, INDIANA
What do you do if your plane is delayed and you can't get home for the weekend? You drive to Indiana and visit Santa Clause, Indiana.
And then you head to Bowling Green, Kentucky where in Ken's words,
"I'm making the most of my weekend here in Kentucky. Found out that Bowling Green KY isn't where Bowling Green University is located (that's in Ohio), but it is where the National Corvette Museum is located. I have to say, I'm not a huge Corvette fan, but I could become one rather easily. Check out the '63 Corvette. I coveted just slightly. I think the 1953 would have been a lovely 16/17th birthday present for you Mom."
(Me too, Ken. Sorry the pictures didn't come out on my computer, but I can see them in my memory's mind!)

SHE WOULD BE 100 YEARS OLD.
Nathan Agle shares his birthday with
Leone Irene Christenson Agle Anderson.
She would be 100 years old this year so I thoughtI'd pay a tribute to her.
Anyone who knew her, knew that she was a very special lady.
Anyone who knew her, knew that she was a very special lady.
This is from a family picture taken around 1914 when Leone was about 2 years old. What a cutie. |
Here she is with her sweet little brother who died a short time later from the Spanish Flu that killed so many people in the world. |
She married Magne Agle when she was 19 years old. Six years later she would be a widow with a little 4 year old son. |
Leone remarried a few years later and found a wonderful new father for Dennis. |
This picture was taken with Axel, Dennis and Leone around 1949. |
From that union two more children were added, Barbara and Tina. |
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATHAN JOSEPH AGLE
Yup! I believe those are muscles developing in this 13 year old. Happy birthday Natan and best wishes from all.

REMEMBER WHEN . . .
(Did this not recall any memories (comments) to anyone??????
Dennis jr. came upon this site last night and forwarded it to me. WOW how things have changed. When we visited a few years back they were just beginning the renovation. When the Agle jr.'s went for their 25th anniversary Dennis said they were a long way from where it is now. Anyway, here is the site that you can look around yourself,(http://www.royalconnaughtpark.com) or just check out the pictures I've posted. Now as then, it will probably be a great place to live, but a tad more expensive. 1 mil+ pounds.
I think they have done a wonderful job. They had to keep the integrity of the outside because of it is listed on the historical register.
They've given all the areas names like York, Windsor, King Edward, Devonshire, etc. Our house is called the JFK area. You know how those Irish loved JFK. (It is an Irish group that is developing the property).

There was a lot of restoration work that had to be done on the outside. Very costly. All my beautiful roses are gone, but the entrance looks lovely. |
The swimming pool never looked so good. Great job. |
Not quite like the bathrooms we had! |

A VALENTINES SKI TRIP
It was a week of skiing for Erik & Kristin and a good time was had by all. They are both fierce skiers and so it is one of their favorite things to do. Here's what Erik wrote.
We called it our Valentine’s day weekend get away at mammoth mountain. We had the good fortune on the way up as we received word of a water leak at the condo we were going to rent and they upgraded us to a 5 star condo for free. Weather was great and the time alone with Kristin was better. It snowed on our last day which made for some nice powder skiing (my favorite – as it feels as if you are floating down the mountain).

A WORD ABOUT DAVIS
Something you should know about Davis. Not only does he carve a mean turkey . . .
BUT
We forgot to mention that his winning "stick" was for his Martial Arts and in his report he said, "I have been training for a martial arts tournament in South Korea his coming summer." Way to go Davis.

AND THE WINNER IS . . .
Our February drawing has been held. Dad did the honors this time (I'm having a bad hairday).
Also, Ashlee is feeling better now, and has reported what she did with her prize money. She spent her money on a 2 year subscription to the magazine Running, and a camel pak--like a back pack but for water. Thanks Ashlee for letting us know.

TOMORROW IS THE REPORTING DAY!
At last we have a full month to see how we have done on our goals. From what I'm hearing, the odds are going to be better this month for winning the "Grant". (Some of you found the month went too fast!!!!) Reporting will be accepted up until midnight Sunday on the 12th. We have to have a cutoff time to make it fair for everyone. Drawing will be held Monday and Dennis jr. will video it again. Fun, fun, fun.
Remember the winner is to spend the money on themself and to report to the group what you did with your winnings. We wan't to enjoy the win vicariously if nothing else!
It would really help me out if you would report in a manner similar to this:
Grandma (or Mom) I get 3 sticks this time. One for losing weight. One for doing an act of service this month. One for reading a complete book this month.
That makes it easier for me to select the 3 sticks and the specific goals.
Good luck to all of you. It's exciting.
