MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR BLAIN ANDRUS

Mark Andrus' older brother passed away a few months ago.
He wanted his ashes placed in the ocean.
The family selected Sept. 24, 2011 as the day they could all
travel to California for this purpose.  It was our first burial at sea
and was a very tender occasion.

Maxine, his wife made arrangement for the large catamaran
to take us out to sea.  There was 19 of us who attended.
We sailed out to sea where we had a short service and watched a
video of events in his life.  Then his ashes were placed in a special
wreath and placed in the ocean.  Maxine got all the special permits
that allow for this type of burial.

Maxine seeing the ashes sink to the ocean floor.

One of the reasons the memorial was held now is Blain's oldest daughter
was awaiting the birth of these babies when Blain passed.

After the ceremony at sea, we drove to the cemetery where Mark
had made arrangements for a memorial marker to be placed by
his grandparents, parents and younger brother's gravesites.

At the top is his grandparent's graves.
In the middle is his parent's graves.
The new marker is for Blain and Mark's younger brother Kenny.

  1. That looked so beautiful. I think I would love the same. I feel so connected to the Pacific.

  2. I'm not sure who this is or if you will get this message, but thank you for this. It will be 5 years tomorrow since his passing.
