A LITTLE EXCITEMENT AT THE CARLTON HOUSEHOLD.

Eddy brought home a set of golf clubs his friend was giving away. Eddy and the kids where having fun playing in the backyard with them. The following morning the kids were playing outside . . .

 Little culprit

 Re-enactment! (minus the blood)

. . . when I heard panic filled screaming so I ran to see and they brought McCoy who was literally covered in blood. His entire face was so covered I couldn't tell where he was hurt. There was blood everywhere! Once I wiped it off I saw a really deep gash about and inch deep

 Finished product!

Three stitches latter and lots of crying things settled down. Now his eye is swollen shut and the golf clubs have been banned. Apparently Archy hit McCoy when he was trying to hit the ball. Fun times at the ranch!

Boys will be boys. Next!!!

D R A G O N S L A Y E R !

While Dennis jr. was here awhile back we had an exciting adventure! Dennis and I were walking down the hall and as he turned to go into his bedroom, lo and behold we had a visitor! I guess it wasn't quite a dragon, but close to it. Dennis said, "run and get a bowl". I did while he kept an eye on it. It was a staring contest. With bowl in hand, he swiftly swooped it down on the critter and then it was, "what do we do now?" He said get a file folder and he slipped it under the bowl without losing the prey. Then it was maneuver the critter back up the hall, turn to the entryway and with great finesse, over the threshold and a gigantic fling out on the lawn!
I guess we left the patio screed door open too long!

Down the hall we go.

This was the tricky part!

Success! Dennis said it was either that or sleep with his mouth closed all night.

SCOUT HIKE

Erik went with the boys Scout Troop on a hiking trip last month.
It was just an overnight trip in our local mountains.  We hiked in 3 miles with going from an elevation of 8,000’ and camped at the base of San Gorgonio mountain which had an elevation of 9,000’.

That's Erik and Travis on the left, & Ryan 3rd from the right.

 Looks like pretty rough terrain.

 Taking a break.
 Let's straighten up this tree!

The scout master gave the boys the  choice to wake up before dawn so they would have time to hike to the summit which has an elevation of 11,503’.  Given the choice the troop decided to sleep in….  oh well maybe next time.

Nice first hike for Travis and another one under the belt for Ryan.  Nate was not able to go because he was participating in his drum line practice.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRACE ROSE

Continuing on with the birthdays, this time it is Grace S. who turns 7 today! Happy Birthday.

4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION IN DUNCAN, ARIZONA

It's an annual event for the Carlton grand-kids to go to the 4th of July celebrations in Duncan.  Eddy writes:

The theme for the parade this year in Duncan was "Heroes".  The town had an appropriate remembrance for all of our fallen heroes including Arizona's recently fallen firefighters.
(19 firefighters died fighting a wildfire).

After the parade was the costume parade.  Quinton was Oa from the Green Lantern core. Declan was Batman. Archer was Robin and McCoy was Superman.

The kids walked in circles for what seemed like 20 minutes with the circle getting smaller and smaller each time.  We thought the winner would be the last kid standing.  Quinton finally took charge of the "train" and went up and through  the nearby gazebo.

First place went to "Jocklan Colton" aka Declan Carlton --not sure the lady understood him when he told her his name!

Archy had fun going down the water slide while still in character.

This other picture is from last month when we were in Phoenix for a wedding and went to a Diamond Backs game. We even pried big Quinton away from Duncan and he made a rare photo op.

Big Quinton with Ashlee.

IT'S RAINING BIRTHDAYS THIS MONTH, 7 IN ALL

Here's the latest. Happy Birthday JP who turns 6 today.
I think there was a book written about that!
