UPDATES FROM THE "COUSINS" - DAVIS

Recently I sent out an email to several of the "cousins" asking for an update on the happenings in their lives (Dennis jr.'s suggestion and a great one it is!) From time to time, I'll post those and here is the first to arrive from  - - - -DAVIS!

According to my parents, I might not be up to very much at this point in my life. I'm not dating. But I guess that means that I have more time to do things like hang out with my friends and work my two jobs.

He also chills with his Mom and Copper, the dog.

My first job I was offered after a BYU Book of Mormon Class, by my professor, to be his Research Assistant. This was because he needed help compiling data on the Book of Mormon. So far we've designed a map, created an interactive (still heavily in creation) cave where Mormon abridged the records. It's been pretty good though most of my work is background items (population stats, bios on people, bios on places, bios on things and such). It's really a fun activity because I just get to do all sorts of research and learning.

Davis on his first day at BYU. He has now completed this year! Those really nice dorms in the background was his home away from home.

The other job I've picked up is a temporary one where I'm helping out with Dad. So far it's a bit similar to my other job, in that I'm mostly dealing with data and information. I started only last Thursday, so I'm not terribly far into it. Or used to it. But it's good work, good pay and nice to be with the family. Besides, I always liked that area of Provo. Except for when I'm driving around it in my car. Not that I have a car anymore.
The Fort

Anyway, I moved back home yesterday. And in a strange turn of events I'm loaning my room out for the night and sleeping out in the fort. It's a rather fun experience out there.

Aside from that it's actually nice to move home. I'm taking Aria's room for now, though once I'm gone the room will become Dad's beloved Studio. I've set up the place for myself and I have so much more room than I have had in years. Plus this is the first time in nearly three years that I've had a bedroom to myself.

Overall, with school being over, I'm ready for the Summer and what it will bring.

'TIS SPRING TRA-LA, TRA-LA

Last week I attended a session at the Provo Temple. When I came out it was a feast for the eyes.
 Gorgeous site.

The fountain. From here you can see Utah Lake.

 A beautiful spring day.

 Cluster of deep pink tulips.

Lots of pansies and tulips. Can't beat that.

Purple tulips. A King's ransom.

THEN AND NOW

Here's a picture of Dad and Clyde after we had both returned to the mainland. Sometime maybe in the 70s having lunch at UVU.

Now we are both without our husbands but we get together every once and awhile to have lunch and catch up.

A BRIDAL SHOWER FOR ARIA

A very delightful bridal shower for Aria with lots of friends attending and fun entertainment and good food
Nana Padgett just returned to Utah a couple of days ago.

Lovely bottles of lotion for all the guests.

Flowers, balloons, lots of balloons, and wonderful food. Over by the sink were cupcakes making the skirts of all the Disney Princesses adorning the top. So pretty. Note the Disney cut outs lining the kitchen counters.

 Visiting with Rachel.

 Cousins.

 Opening presents!
(A slightly naughty Minnie Mouse outfit!)

The screen on the right was for a very fun video of Nathan guessing what Aria would answer regarding all things Disney!

MY NEW BUGGY!

Here's a picture of my new car. I really like it.
 Cute, isn't it!!

What do I like best about it? Back up camera, right turn camera (for aid in the blind spot) and heated seats!!!

During Spring Break, Beki took me to lunch and so I could be a true BYU fan, she gave me a hat and a T-shirt!  Bring on the football!

SPRING BREAK IN ZION

It's a family tradition. Ken and family head to Zion during Spring Break. This year it was just Ken, Coppelia, Sophie and JP camping out, roughing it!

Top of Angel's Landing (?)

Sophie and Jp were too young to do this until this year.

It's a long way up. Sophie is fearless.

 A perfect niche.

On the trail before it gets too scary.

 JP! Mind the gap!

NEWS FLASH!

It's official. Danielle and Spencer are engaged. Wedding date: July 1! So happy for them. What a great looking couple.

FALL BACK FRIDAY

I've been going through lots of pictures on disks and sorting and transferring them onto my Mac to eventually do some editing and refining. Dennis told me that not only is there THROW BACK THURSDAY, but there is also WAY BACK WEDNESDAY AND FALL BACK FRIDAY! Who knew? Since everybody posts on Facebook and Instagram, etc., there isn't much fodder for the blog, but Dennis suggested I might post a few of these pictures once and awhile, so here's a couple that should bring a smile to your face.

Grandma & Grandpa Anderson and Tina came to Hawaii to spend a few weeks with us. We had a wonderful time showing them the island and doing lots of fun things. Here we are saying goodbye to Grandma & Grandpa. Tina stayed a little longer with us.

After spending 4 years in Hawaii, we headed back to the mainland for a long vacation in the summer of 1969. This was our home away from home. We travelled up the California coast stopping in Yosemite, on to Oregon, Washington, Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Utah, Arizona, etc., etc. Great trip. (Ruth's favorite memory: We stayed a couple of days with the Steeles in SLC and watched the landing on the moon. Dick was soooooo excited about it and that helped to make it so memorable to her.)
