Miscellaneous Updates

MISCEELLANEOUS UPDATES:

About a week ago, our nephew Joe Price who lives in Oregon, came here on business as he does once a year and paid us a visit and took us to lunch.  Here's a picture of me checking out his family pictures on his laptop.

The communication from Ashlee is sparse because there aren't a lot of places she can blog, but here's a little update.

Sorry it has been so long between emails. I am now in Montevillos. Only about 200 km to Santiago. We made some very long days of 33, 40, 36, & 35 k, so I am very tired. I was supposed to continue with my group but decided to have an easy day today and will try to catch up with them tomorrow.

I deposited my rock today on the highest point on the Camino. It was the prettiest rock there.

Thank you very much for all that you do, I love you guys an miss you and am looking forward to coming home and seeing everyone.

Time is flying. but I get ever closer to Santiago.

Lots of love and miss you terribly. Hope the store is well. Please give Remington and Pa a hug.

Ashlee

As an aside:  I asked Rhiannon about the reference to the book, Lady in White and this is what she wrote:

On a previous international trip Ashlee exchanged books with a fellow traveler and got Woman in White. To lighten the load when you were done with a book you would leave at a hostel or trade it. Anyway due to its ponderous story (it is quite a slow, fat read) Ashlee toted it around not able to finish it. I would tease her about it from time to time and as a joke I downloaded it to her Kindle. I guess she felt like she would give it another go.

Sounds like to me that there isn't a lot of time to read.

As another aside, we have a TV travel program that we enjoy very much with Rick Steves and lo and behold, he had a program on the very walk that Ashlee is doing, The Camino de Santiago.

It was so interesting to see and he showed several of the towns that are on the path, plus many of the churches and he even showed a typical stop when the walkers stay which is very "dorm" like and pretty packed with a lot of people.

I'm sure it will be an experience to remember and be very proud that you completed the 500 k walk to Santiago de Compostela.

Here's another picture of the guys in D.C.  It's the only one of the two of them and a bit fuzzy but still nice to see.
Two handsome men with the Washington Monument behind them.  Great shot!
Here's a graduation picture of Mayra who just completed her high school years.

Congratulations, Mayra.  Well done.

VACATION TIME

This week the Mapleton Agles are vacationing in Newport Beach, California. Ken flew in Monday and rented a car as he will be working 3 days of the vacation. Coppelia and 7 kids, (yes the car was filled to the max) drove down on Monday arriving at our house in time to take a break and swim a little. We had a Memorial Day dinner and then they loaded up and headed to the house they are renting by the beach.

After a long drive it's nice to sit in a different seat!

JP and Nathan
(Ken hung up the wall planters for us.)

Good eats.

Some of the boys ate out on the patio.
(And Ken also hung the 3 little pictures.  Thanks, Ken)

Having a look at the 2010 family reunion album.

Ah.  Refreshing.

Watch what I can do!

Steven ready to dive in again.
The tape is to discourage the migrating ducks to skip our pond of water!!!

Don't mess with this kid!  He's going to Korea in July to compete.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SOPHIE

Sophie turns 7 years old today and she will spend it at Disneyland, one of her favorite places.

MISCELLANEOUS

Here are some random pictures:
Two of my sons are in Washington, D. C.
One took the picture of the other!
She's number one in our book too!

JP has completed a new milestone in his life and finished his pre-pre school.  Well done JP.

And here is another graduation, or advancement, or promotion, or what ever they call it nowadays.
Gracie with her Grandma.

And last but not least, and though there are no new pictures, here's some excerps from Ashlee's emails.

Sorry I have been so long in replying. My days are pretty much the same. Wake up, walk all day and then get something to eat find a place to stay, then go to bed. I haven´t been too sore but I did get some wicked blisters. We are taking a slow day today. Only walking 7 miles, which I will have to then make up on another day. Oh well.  That makes it sound deary but its really not. Its quite beautiful. Sadly the Irsh girl I have been travelling with has to go home to work, but its ok. I know a lot of people on the trail now.  Sometimes we walk in groups and other times alone. Everyone has been really nice and the countryside is quite beautiful. I looked at a few antique stores and even there stuff is old!!

I was talking to some french guys in the sixties and they called American antiques, Antiques Noveau.

Lots of love,

Ash

PS did that horrible hotel ever give the refund or do I need to bug them about it?

And then just a couple of days ago . . .

Currently I am in San Oretego. I was going to go longer but it has been miserable, cold and raining. I had to buy a pancho. Rhi would not had been able to fit it as it ripped going over my head. I still have a few power bars left, which I normally eat for breakfast. For lunch I either make a sandwich, or have a Spanish tortilla, the egg and potato kind. Dinner just depends.  When I was with Elizabeth we cooked but the last night I went out with the "boys" for a dinner. They are all over 60.

Its about 25K a day more or less. I got lucky today and got a good bottom bunk next to the heater. Tomorrow I shall get to Burgos  where there is supposed to be a very good gothic cathredal which I am looking forward to see. I am surpirsed that alot of the chruches have fallen into such disrepair. During the Age of Faith apparently there was 1 church for every 50 or so people. Some are quite beautiful, but they are all so cold.

This is the most un friendly place for vegetarians I have been. Its much easier for me to eat someting like a sandwich. Even the salads always come with tuna. I ask them not to but they just pick it out and you can still taste it.

The scenery is very beatutiful. On these computers we use there is nowhere to stick in the memory card.  Tell Rhi I have once again started reading "Woman in White" to make this trip a true penance.

Glad that you are doing well, Can´t wait to see you guys and give Remington a hug.

Lots of love and miss you,

Ashlee

HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW?

Last weekend we drove over to Murrieta to visit Erik, Kristin and the kids and see all the work they have been doing in their back yard and garden.
In the front, they dug out the old and put in these white roses, geraniums, and marigolds.

Two of my favorite people.

They bought new patio furniture and added this lattice in natural wood.

Mrs. Hummingbird liked it also, and built her nest.
She sits on it even when they go in and out of the patio door.

Keeping her two little eggs warm.

One of the areas planted with a new drip system.
Hard work to begin with, but easier maintenance later on.

Dad enjoying the delightful afternoon.

Potting soil for a couple of more projects.
The three trees in the back are Lemon, Lime & Orange.

Yes, I'm ready to hit the water.

Time for some swimming.

Ker-plunk!

The hose keeps moving to keep the pool clean.

Pretty in pink.

King of the mountain.

That's all folks!

A NEW MILESTONE IN ARIA'S LIFE

Aria has completed her schooling at Western Nebraska.  She received her AA and is ready to move on to more adventures.  Congratulations, Aria. We're all happy for you.
As a side note, in the K&C Agle family there are 4 gradutations this year.  JP from pre-school, Sophia from Kindergarten, Mayra from High School and of course Aria.  Busy, busy, busy!

I asked Aria to write a little about this accomplishment.  Here goes!

Thank you Grandma! And I'm actually in St George right now, but nationals starts Thursday ( 5/17). We have a banquet tomorrow night and other events that we have to do before actual playing begins.

I am very proud of my accomplishment of graduating. I feel like in being a student athlete I've accomplished something in and of itself. I feel like I've grown up and completed a small chapter of my life, and now I feel more prepared to start another. Thank you for taking interest in my accomplishments no matter how small :)

You go girl!

Aria is in the front row, 3rd from the left.
